For a Cleaner Future: BSH Employees Clean up Beach near Istanbul

Celebrating a “Volunteer Day” together this year, BSH employees have participated in Coastal Cleanup Movement on Kınalıada in cooperation with DenizTemiz Association / Turmepa (Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association) near Istanbul, Turkey. By collecting 67 kilos of waste in total, BSH employees have contributed to the target of a sustainable and clean future.

All employees were asked to offer their recommendations of volunteer projects for that special day. The creative suggestions from the employees were evaluated and this year’s theme was determined to be 'benevolence’.

In this direction, 30 voluntary BSH employees participated in the 'Coastal Cleanup Movement’ organized on Friday, July 21 to celebrate this day in cooperation with DenizTemiz Association / Turmepa. Employees of BSH Head Office came together to clean up the coast of Kınalıada.

On the event of ‘Coastal Cleanup Movement’ by Turmepa which aims to transform the corporate sensitivity of communities into energy for the protection of seas and coasts, the employees were informed about the impacts of seas and marine pollution on nature and living conditions. The event started with teamwork and training, then continued with coastal cleanup. At the end of the day, all participants were awarded with certificates.

67 kilograms in total

“Totally 67 kilograms of waste were collected from the coasts of Kınalıada at the end of the event that was supported by BSH employees embracing an environmentally-conscious mission with the target of a sustainable and clean future”, says Burcin Girit, Head of Communications in Turkey and the Region T-MEA-CIS. BSH volunteers saved 275 L water by collecting 11 kilos of paper waste and saved 392 kWh of energy by collecting 28 kilos of plastic waste. Furthermore, the employees saved 2.2 L oil by collecting 22 kilograms of glass waste and contributed a raw material gain of 7.8 kilograms by collecting 6 kilograms of metal waste during the event.
