BSH Running Challenge 2021: Changing the lives of the most vulnerable
Reading time: 3 minutes
In 2021, the first edition of the BSH Running Challenge in the BSH Region Europe took place. The main goal was to challenge our employees in all locations to stay healthy by leaving their home offices in these Covid-19 times and combine it with a greater cause: Collecting donations to help people in need. And that’s how it worked:
Last year, over 300 BSH employees across Europe took part in the first edition of the BSH Running Challenge. This challenge aimed to foster one of BSH sustainability strategy key pillars: People (The 3 key pillars are: Planet, People and Prosperity).
No matter if they were an experienced runner, a happy jogger or more into power walking – everyone could participate and help to reach the target of 100.000 km together!
As a bonus to get healthier, BSH also contributed to a social cause by kindly donating 20 cents/km to World Vision until they reach two laps around the world.
So how far did we make it?
At the end of 2021, we reached the goal of our Running Challenge and are proud to say: With the help of 313 participants from all of Europe, we were able to run a total distance of 100.833 km! What an amazing job from everyone! Well done!
Now that the final target is reached, the European Board of Management is going to donate 20.000 € to the World Vision Deutschland e.V.!
Thank you to everyone for your huge effort. The donation will go to improving the health care of people in poor countries (which has long been an essential part of World Vision's work). Especially during the Corona crisis, World Vision is drawing on their global health network to ensure that diseases like COVID-19 are prevented and that children can grow up healthy. Their goal is to make people independent of their aid in the long term.
Thank you to everyone who participated, for all your runs but also for sharing experiences!
Let’s stay healthy and let’s hope that we can run together soon.
