Intelligent simplification

Intelligent simplification

Reading time: 5 minutes

At Siemens Home Appliances, the 100th IFA is all about Artificial Intelligence, smart technology and thoughtful design to make everyday life easier.

An oven that you hardly need to operate any more. A scratch-resistant hob that makes cooking even more precise and easy. A refrigerator that cools better than ever before: under the motto "Say hi to intelligence", Siemens presents innovations at the anniversary IFA that make life easier. AI and innovative technologies, as well as design and connectivity, play an important role here. The interaction of all appliances can be experienced in the Intelligent Kitchen. At the booth in Hall 1.1, the public can also look forward to a varied show program featuring TV chef Alexander Kumptner, bread fluencer Jo Semola and other friends of the brand.

One hundred years ago, the first IFA was opened and almost simultaneously, Siemens launched the first electric kitchen. At that time, the introduction of electricity mainly took over physical labour and thus revolutionised the way households were run. Today, a similar turning point is imminent: Intelligent technologies and AI increasingly ensure that you no longer need to know and master a lot to cook well, look neat or contribute to climate and environmental protection.

A trend study conducted by The Future:Project on behalf of Siemens home appliances shows the increasing desire for simplification in everyday life and living. 72% of Germans feel that the world today is exhausting, complex and overwhelming1. Almost as many (70%) long for more simplicity in life and everyday activities. According to the report, the home becomes the place of the new longing: regeneration takes precedence, relaxed idleness is valued more than self-fulfilment. The kitchen plays the role of a simplifier, acting as a place that reduces stress and creates free space. The support of AI in home appliances is particularly accepted by younger respondents if it brings clear benefits.

Automated cooking thanks to AI

Picture

Whether preparing bread, pizza, lasagna, chicken, popcorn or rice: In all these cases, the iQ700 oven from Siemens no longer needs to be operated. Simply place the dish inside and the appliance automatically selects the right program with the help of AI. This is already possible in 80 applications. This means that the competence of dish recognition has doubled compared to last year. For example, the appliance automatically recognizes whether the oven is empty, whether there are plates to reheat or whether there is food inside. It understands whether it has slices of pumpkin or eggplant, fish fillets or a crusty roast in front of it. It also reliably identifies whether to make yeast dough, bake a casserole or bake bread. Users can simply leave the choice of program and temperature to the oven, which can even switch on the steam, grill or microwave at the right time - depending on whether the dish needs to be particularly crispy or ready quickly.

The premium appliance also has numerous other assistance systems, including the browning sensor, which is also supported by AI. If you want to prepare pizza, lasagne or bread rolls, for example, you tell the browning sensor beforehand how crispy and brown you want the result to be. The sensor, oven camera and AI then ensure the best individual result. The integrated oven camera provides up-to-date images from inside the oven at all times to the Siemens home appliance app, which can also be used to control the appliance remotely - even in conjunction with a smart speaker using voice commands.

All programs and options are controlled via a large TFT full-touch display, which provides access to the oven's entire range of functions with the help of images. The appliance has a black glass handle, whose design allows it to blend in completely with the background of the same color. This gives the stove a handleless appearance and blends discreetly into a modern ambience.

Flavour meets intelligent cooking

Excellent results without having to know or do much: This is possible with the HR478G5B7F model from the new iQ500 oven range, among others. This is because the oven is equipped with numerous intelligent features that support users throughout the entire cooking process. Its elegant design combines dark glass with brushed black steel and integrates perfectly into modern living environments. Quick and intuitive access to all functions is provided either by the modern display or networking via the Siemens home appliance app. Thanks to intelligent features, this is not merely a glimpse into the future, it is the present reality. The new Siemens iQ500 studioLine ovens empower consumers to effortlessly achieve culinary excellence. The steam has an equally positive effect on roast crusts. The meat inside remains tender and juicy - especially when the iQ500 oven's innovative roasting sensor provides additional support. After the feast, the activeClean® pyrolytic oven cleaning system cleans the oven while users can enjoy their free time.

The iQ500 oven also produces excellent results with little effort when it comes to side dishes. Anyone who loves fresh chips and croquettes, for example, but wants to avoid fried foods for health reasons, can simplify their life with the new Air Fry program, which can be selected via the Siemens home appliance app. This transforms the oven into a kind of hot air fryer, thanks to which hardly any oil is needed.

Thanks to 30 automatic programs, the cookControl function makes new culinary experiences child's play: simply select the appropriate dish on the display and intelligent program control and sensors will ensure that everything runs smoothly. Using the Siemens home appliance app, it is now also possible to get an oven assistant on board at any time. On request, it provides the right temperature setting, shelf height and preparation time for every culinary project. Via the integrated recipe world and networking with the extensive Siemens Home Connect ecosystem, the app also offers a wide range of other options, including additional program downloads and recipe ideas.

Easy-care Beauty

Picture

With diamondProtect, selected Siemens hobs now feature a CERAN® surface with a scratch-resistant coating, that is as hard as diamonds, ensuring easy care and lasting beauty. Siemens is introducing this new material from SCHOTT for the first time for the iQ500 inductionAir Plus hob, which combines an integrated ventilation unit with combi induction and temperature control. Whether high heat, abrasive sponges or salt at the bottom of the pan: diamondProtect is a patented, scratch-resistant coating that makes hobs more resistant to the challenges of everyday kitchen life. The result: the shiny surface remains flawlessly beautiful for longer. Kitchen owners need to take less care when handling pots and pans and can look forward to simplified maintenance.

The new iQ500 inductionAir Plus hob also offers a worry-free experience, thanks to the new fryingSensor Pro. This means that temperature-controlled cooking is now making its debut on hob extractors, i.e. hobs with an integrated extractor hood. Depending on whether they want to melt chocolate or fry a pancake without supervision, they can choose from 11 temperature levels between 70 °C and 220 °C. . Similar to a car’s cruise control, the hob measures the temperature at the base of the cookware and maintains it consistently. The hob assistant knows which setting is the right one. Using the Home Connect app1, you can ask for advice at any time on how to cook a steak perfectly medium, how to make the best omelette or how to reduce sauces.

The new 80 centimeter wide iQ500 hob also features a handy pause function. Simply touch it with a finger, and operation stops automatically on all cooking zones. This ensures safety if the delivery person rings the doorbell or an important call demands your full attention. Another touch resumes the work exactly where it left off. If the pause is ended within ten minutes, all previous settings are retained.

Cooling made easy

The new iQ700 French Door fridge-freezer combination from Siemens produces 5 kilograms of ice per day making its integrated ice dispenser the most powerful in Europe. The appliance also saves its owners numerous shopping trips – thanks to its large storage capacity and intelligent freshness technology for a longer-lasting food. It offers 574 litres of storage space, 375 litres of which are in the fridge section. This accommodates an entire week’s shopping and keeps it fresh for much longer. The hyperFresh <0°C> freshness system stores vegetables at higher humidity and fish and meat at extra-low temperatures, keeping everything appetising. Whether for festive occasions or on warm days, serving ice-cold drinks is just a button press away. You can choose between crushed ice, ice cubes and chilled water. A fixed water connection with a filter provides a steady supply.

Visually, the dark, expressive design of the fridge-freezer combination radiates calm and sovereignty and thus supports the individual, relaxed lifestyle. Siemens appliances also impress because they are practical and user-friendly. Inside, the practical side of the design becomes apparent: flexible solutions allow the storage space to be adapted to personal needs. The individually adjustable ladder system allows you to easily change the height of the shelves, for example, to cool a cream cake. The new French Door fridge comes standard with a temperature and door alarm if the door is left open for too long. The Siemens Home Appliances app offers additional customisable usage options. Various settings, such as eco or vacation mode, can be selected according to individual needs.

Simple and smart

Effortlessly handling the demands of everyday life while contributing to climate protection: this is what the iQ500 washing machine and the iQ500 dryer from Siemens Home Appliances in the new design stand for. They simplify laundry care with intuitive operation, easier scheduling and the smartFinish program for freshening up creased clothes. Simultaneously, the new iQ500 washing machine is energy-saving, supporting anyone who wants to reduce their ecological footprint.  Products that are easy to use are in demand.
After all, one in five people today say they feel overwhelmed by technological change and the need to "keep up". That's why the iQ500 duo has a design that stands out with its intuitive user experience and ergonomics. The slightly slanted panel with the generously sized display is designed to accommodate users, making it easier to read, even when standing up. Blue light markings reliably indicate the selected setting and make it easy to navigate despite the wealth of programs and options. With the smartFinish program, Siemens Home Appliances is now launching a solution for creased garments for the first time in the comfort class. Whether it's a jacket that has creased while driving or shirts that need to be ironed more easily: smartFinish freshens up garments in just 20 minutes using steam, reducing creases by up to 50%2 and making ironing virtually unnecessary. Everything is much smoother – with better results.

Whether voice control, help with program selection or push messages on the smartwatch: connectivity makes laundry care easier. This is particularly true when the iQ500 washing machine talks to the matching iQ500 dryer. Because now both share their sensor data directly via Wi-Fi. As a result, the dryer knows what type of laundry it "gets" and at what spin speed it was spun. It can therefore suggest the ideal drying program based on solid information.

According to the study, around a quarter of respondents are concerned about the effects of climate change. The new iQ500 washing machine has good news for them. After all, it undercuts the limit value of the best energy efficiency class A by 20%3 and the dryer also impresses with an A+++ rating in the best class on the market. The anti-microplastic program, which can be used via the Home Connect app4, is also brand new. It reduces the mechanical action through intelligent program control and thus reduces the release of microplastics from the fabric by up to 30%5. The perfect complement to this is the new microplastic filter, which can be combined with all Siemens washing machines. Simply connect the drain hose and ensure up to 97%6 less microplastics in wastewater.

Unique coffee experience: individual enjoyment meets maximum comfort

Picture

The new EQ900 plus offers everything needed for the perfect coffee moment: Individual settings ensure that the coffee perfectly matches your taste. The advanced technology makes every step of the preparation process very easy – even the subsequent cleaning. An additional bonus: you can now prepare three new coffee specialities: cold brew, cold brew macchiato and slow brew.

Thanks to baristaMode, the water and coffee quantity, grind size, brewing temperature and speed, as well as the amount of milk can be adjusted according to personal preferences on the EQ900 plus. If you want to familiarise yourself with the various settings first, comfortMode allows you to select perfectly balanced coffee at the touch of a button. International specialities are available in the Siemens coffeeWorld

The latest software update makes it possible – the new EQ900 plus now offers the coffee specialities cold brew, cold brew macchiato, and slow brew in coffeeWorld. Unlike traditional coffee, cold brew is prepared using cold water. Additionally, the extraction time, i.e. the time it takes for the water to flow through the coffee grounds, is much longer. The same applies to slow brew, which is prepared with hot water that has a long contact time with the ground coffee. This extended extraction time ensures that the aromas are perfectly released from the beans.

Fancy a decaffeinated cappuccino and an extra-strong espresso at breakfast? No problem with the dualBean system. Thanks to the separate bean containers, you can switch between two types of coffee at any time. Each container also has its own electronically adjustable grinder.  And if you’re unsure, you can use the intelligent beanIdent system, which optimally adjusts all settings to the selected coffee bean, bringing out the best in them. The EQ900 takes care of the cleaning and descaling entirely on its own, without interrupting the coffee-making process. When cleaning is required, the EQ900 plus only starts the process when it is turned off. And if descaling is needed, the EQ900 plus will notify you in advance and allow you to choose the start time.

With so many options, it's easy to lose track - but not with the EQ900 plus. It features a 6.8-inch iSelect display and is intuitively operated via touch-and-slide. The clearly arranged menu provides access to all functions and ensures quick orientation. And if you’d like to have your coffee made while still in bed, you can use the Home Connect app. Coffee preferences and timings can be set there and the EQ900 plus takes care of the rest.
