Mr. Ostarek, you have been with BSH since 1995. Which stations did you go through in the past years?
My first station was in the office as sales representative of the Siemens brand. Then I got the chance to switch to the sales force at the Bosch brand where I looked after the kitchen and furniture trade in the south Bavarian region. For about seven years now, I am working in the „FÜR UNS” shop.
What is behind the “FÜR UNS” shop? Can you briefly explain the store concept?
BSH has so-called “FÜR UNS” shops at various locations in Germany where employees can buy our products at a promotional price. In addition, we advise customers on our devices and offer solutions in the event of a defect. If, for example, a customer’s four year old dishwasher does not work anymore, he or she can pick up tips and tricks from us before buying a new one.
From the field service to the “FÜR UNS” shop. What prompted you to change?
I had health problems that led me to surgery and two artificial hip joints. My manager then openly asked me if I want to change because of my health situation. Therefore, I was offered a job in the “FÜR UNS” shop. A good example that shows how much the company values and responds to its employees.
How can we imagine your current working day?
Very flexible! From ordering the goods, to working with the enterprise resource planningsystem SAP, up to direct customer advice is all there. Here, my many years of experience and my product knowledge are excellently used and I can pass on my knowledge with joy to colleagues and customers.
How do you arrange job and family?
I drive 80 kilometers every day by train from Brannenburg to Munich to work.
Since I signed up for partial retirement half a year ago, I’m still in the active phase.
My daughter is already grown up and that’s the way to settle things. And if it’s fun, there is no way too far.
What do you value most about BSH?
Above all, the social component is very important at BSH. When I talk to friends or neighbors who also work in large German companies and tell them about BSH, I notice how they are amazed at what the company does for its employees. Also, I learned to always respect and value your employees and colleagues. I couldn’t have asked for a better employer in 25 years.
